COP27 LOSS AND DAMAGE CAMPAIGN

THE CLIMATE VULNERABLE FORUM

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

From 2021 to present, Megaphone has been working with The Climate Vulnerable Forum, an international partnership of countries highly vulnerable to a warming planet. The Forum serves as a South-South cooperation platform for participating governments to act together to deal with global climate change.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Climate Vulnerable Forum invited Megaphone to deliver their Loss and Damage campaign in the lead-up to COP27. The core aims were to raise awareness of Loss and Damage as a core issue to be addressed at the COP and to secure a funding mechanism to start to address the worst impacts of climate change. The campaign ran over 6 months, with Megaphone partnering with two agencies to deliver a digital only campaign. The concept was Payment Overdue, and focused on pressuring richer countries to take responsibility for their role in contributing to climate change.

OUR CAMPAIGN RESULTS

The Payment Overdue creative content delivered over 10 million impressions across Meta, Tik Tok, Twitter and LinkedIn. The core aim of delivering a Loss and Damage fund that countries can contribute to was secured at COP27- the central aim of the creative campaign. The next step is for countries to step up and actually commitment money to the fund. The creative campaign was highly effective at reaching target audiences and outperformed all KPIs.

IMPACT

The work of the CVF to represent those most vulnerable is critical to bringing about climate justice – their work at COP26 and ongoing COPs is essential to bringing the issues of climate vulnerable countries to the negotiating table and ensuring there is real systemic change.

We worked with Megaphone Creative for our Payment Overdue campaign, in preparation for UNFCCC COP27. The team showed enthusiasm, adaptability and creativity, leading us to reach our objectives and directly impacting the final COP27 outcome
