ABOUT THE PROJECT

City of Gold: Hustling in Johannesburg is a short documentary that follows the lives of  young street hustlers living in what is often perceived as the troubled inner city of the business heart of South Africa.  The film follows the three characters’ stories as they narrate their day to day reality, their hopes and dreams. This film seeks to break down the barriers of how people living in this area are perceived. Megaphone teamed up with WeCreative in South Africa, to make this film.

IMPACT

The film was selected as part of the 2020 Film Aid Festival. Film Aid are a nonprofit using the power of film to bring life-saving information, psychological relief & much-needed hope to vulnerable communities around the world.
